Beautiful in its own right, current parlor gallery show “Abstract Expressionist Texas” will also make the world a little more beautiful. The two artists, Thomas Cavaness and John Krajicek, will donate a portion of their art sales to two charities: the Seva Foundation and The Center’s Pulse Tragedy Community Fund, benefiting the families of the Orlando nightclub shooting victims. Krajicek will donate all his profits to the two causes, and Cavaness will donate a portion of his sales to the Orlando cause. The show is currently in the gallery and runs through August 15.
The Seva Foundation’s vision is to see a world cured of avoidable blindness. Working closely with local partners and hospitals in 20 countries around the world, they invest in local organizations and hospitals to help ensure that people will receive sight-restoring services far into the future. Seva has provided surgery to restore the eyesight of nearly 4 million people around the globe over the past 38 years. According to their website, “with restored sight, adults can return to work and provide for their families, parents can care for their children, and children can attend school again.”
The Center’s Pulse Tragedy Community Fund
The Center is an LBGTQ community and support center in Orlando, Florida. They set up a Go Fund Me campaign to help the families of June 12 shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. So far they’ve raised $558,569 out of their $600,000 goal.
