We are excited to introduce a unique summer camp opportunity in Historic Downtown Bryan: SEAD Academy 2016!
SEAD Academy is an immersive, interdisciplinary summer camp bringing programs and classes for learner of all ages. The name SEAD is inspired by the work of the Network for Science, Engineering, Art and Design. Every summer, SEAD Academy partners with some of our community’s finest instructors to create fun and engaging courses for students aged 7-18.
This 2016 summer camp edition includes the following camps:
Digital Photography Fundamentals | June 20-24, 8am-12pm | Ages 11-18
This course will take you through camera manual settings, image quality, composition (what to photography/how), basic editing, exporting and uploading and keeping your images safe for years to come.
It’s All About That Glass, July 5-8, 1-5pm | Ages 9-18
Over 4 days, students will learn about the history of glass making, how to paint on glass, using glass to create mosaics, and creating their own glasswork pieces. An interesting, unique course exploring a beautiful and rather rare art form!
Innovation Camp: Game Design and Physical Computing , July 18-22, 8am-12pm | Ages 14-18
In this camp, students will learn how to integrate an exciting new piece of hardware — the Texas Instruments Sensor Tag V2 — into game design. This device packs a 9 axis motion sensor, humidity, temperature, light sensors and a microphone. Students will create various prototypes for game play using the sensor tag alone and in combination with traditional controllers.
Innovation Camp: Sculptures in Augmented Reality | July 25-July 29, 8am-12pm | Ages 14-18
Interested in creating Augmented Reality? In this interdisciplinary camp we will cook up some totally superb realities that traverse the virtual / physical divide. Using all free and open source software, we will create clay sculptures and then translate them into augmented reality that you can show your friends anywhere from your mobile phone!
