We are pleased to announce our next SEAD Gallery artist, Mick Burson!
A fine arts student at the University of North Texas, Mick is a native of Waco and recently completed an artist residency in Navasota. We are excited to feature his new exhibit “Kismet” here at SEAD Gallery beginning March 7th.
Mick’s work recognizes the connections and coincidences that are made through life and people. The work reflects the interactions and connections made during the collective process of creating. He explains.
“I think recognition of these moments becomes a catalyst of kismet in my own life. Each individual painting has the freedom to be its own, while being part of a larger series due to the process involved while finding materials. The purpose of each painting is not predetermined. The period of time in which the painting is made in correlation to my life is what defines purpose. The work does not serve as a means to a destination; it is just an appreciation of life, coincidence, and circumstance.”
The opening reception for “Kismet” is Saturday March 7th, 2015. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Please RSVP by Wednesday, March 4th.
