Thursday, September 5th, SEAD Gallery, together with the Arts Council of Brazos Valley, kicked off David Sites’ new exhibition “The Nature of Suggestion” with an intimate gathering downtown. Guests enjoyed wine and other light refreshments as they perused the gallery, soaking in David’s impressionistic landscapes. The pieces, which could be described as abstract art, are extremely engaging. It was wonderful to see attendees visit and revisit their favorite pieces throughout the evening.
During the evening, David spoke briefly about the journey that led him to begin painting abstract landscapes two decades ago and took time to thank his wife as well as some of the local artists who have shown him support in his short time in Bryan/College Station. Downtown staple Greta Watkins, artist and owner of The Frame Gallery, was one of the first to showcase David’s work in Bryan. Former feature artists, Becky Phillips, and Scott McDermott were in attendance as well. As an artist who is relatively new to the area, David expressed sincere gratitude at the encouragement he has received since arriving on the scene a few years ago.
If you were unable to make it, you can see photos from the event on our Facebook page. David’s collection will be available for viewing 10am – 6pm Tuesday through Saturday until November 29th and as always – admission to SEAD Gallery is free.
