The SEAD Gallery and Bookshop is excited to announce that local author and professor, Dr. David Flint, will be joining us for our next installment in our Author Talk Series. Dr. Flint’s talk will take place on April 19th from 6:30 – 8 PM and will cover his recently released business book, Think Beyond Value: Building Strategy to Win.
Dr. Flint is a Clinical Associate Professor of Management at Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School. He describes his educational background as “eclectic”, with focuses on history, computer science, and international management. This combination of interests and studies provides a rich background of diversity and experience, which shows up in every conversation and engagement. After completing his undergrad at Grand Canyon University and getting a Master’s in International Management from The American Graduate School of International Management, he went on to obtain a Ph.D. in Management from A&M with a focus on business-government relationships.
Not only a professor, Dr. Flint is also a businessman, consultant, public speaker, and now, an author. Outside of professional endeavors, Dr. Flint finds joy in dog walking, music, and traveling the world. Throughout his career, Dr. Flint has been involved in management ranging from start-up companies to real estate investment. Presently, he holds board and leadership positions across business endeavors in software applications, real estate, and insurance. He has also helped to create two non-profit organizations and now serves on the board for both organizations with domestic and international activities. When Dr. Flint is not teaching strategic management and entrepreneurship at Texas A&M, he enjoys public speaking and consulting.
Think Beyond Value presents the V-REEL framework, a framework that he originally developed to aid his teaching of strategy formulation. Since developing the tool, Flint has used V-REEL in support of consulting engagements, and is now working to use it with both his for-profit and not-for-profit enterprises domestically and internationally. Think Beyond Value describes the V-REEL framework in an easy-to-read and practical manner, and is sure to be a valuable resource to any organization or individual seeking to think beyond value and develop sound strategy for business and for life.
