DESCRIPTION:SEAD Library and Bookshop - - Join us October 5th from 6:30-8 at the SEAD Gallery and Bookshop as we partner with the France/TAMU Institute to bring in guest lecturer Pascal Bruckner to discuss his book “The Invention of Islamophobia”. A French writer and philosopher from Paris\, Pascal Bruckner is coined one of the “nouveaux philosophes”\, or New Philosophers. He studied at the universities of Paris I\, Paris VII Diderot\, and the École Pratique des Hautes Études before becoming the maître de conférences at the Institut d&#8217\;Études Politiques de Paris. His esteemed works include writings on the topics of multiculturalism\, the concept of the “White Man’s Burden”\, and other western ideals. Most famously\, Bruckner is known for “Le Sanglot de l&#8217\;Homme blanc (The Tears of the White Man)”\, which has influenced other philosophers and writers\, inspiring new trends of thought within the community.
